The southern tip of the Nicoya Peninsula — surf, design, and a single road along the sea.
Santa Teresa grew along one road that runs parallel to the beach from Playa Carmen south to Mal País. Everything is on it or just off it, which gives the town a density and an energy that Nosara deliberately avoided.
The surf is bigger and faster here, the sunsets are the reason people stay, and the design culture is unusually strong for a town this size — a concentration of small hotels and houses built with real architectural intent, often in board-formed concrete and local hardwood.
Getting here is a commitment: either the ferry from Puntarenas and an hour's drive, or a flight into Tambor. That friction is part of why it has kept its character. Residential property runs from small lots walking distance to the sand to larger hillside plots with ocean views above the town.
